Access Questions

How do I access the event on December 11th?
  • Using your “Event Access Email” sent on Friday, December 10th, click the “Activate Account Link” within the email and upon getting to the site:
    • Enter your email address & set your password
    • Note: You must access the event via your activation email!
I forgot my password, what should I do?
  • When you return to the EdFEST Event page [Click Here], press “Sign in” and then follow the prompt to re-set your password below the Login button.
How do I access the event information once EdFEST is over?
  • As a registered attendee, you will have access to all information on the EdFEST site for 30 days after the event day. Hence, you can log back into the site up until January 10th at 11:59PM EST. However, you will not be able to interact with exhibitors after 1:00pm on the event day.
Tech + Help Desk Questions

What is the preferred browser when visiting EdFEST?
  • We recommend using Chrome for the optimal experience during EdFEST.
What are some ways that I can increase my home/office internet connection during the event hours?
  • If you have additional devices connected to the WiFi network, place them in airplane mode during the event hours. Ex: Phones, tablets, fitness trackers etc.
  • Make sure you are set up in the room where your internet modem is hooked up!
  • If you have the option, you can hardline your device directly to your internet modem using an Ethernet cord.
Where can I go if I have questions about EdFEST, the Lottery or a technical need?
  • Please visit the MySchoolDC booth located on the Schools page for lottery related questions
  • Please visit the Event Staff for all other questions including technical help!

Are interpretation services being provided for EdFEST?
Yes! Language support will be provided in the following languages:
  • Spanish
  • French
  • Vietnamese
  • Chinese
  • Amharic
Please navigate to the Interpretation booth located on the Schools page to learn more about how you can access. 

I logged into the event and landed on the Home Page, now what do I do?
You will be able to navigate throughout the site by using the left side Navigation menu, the main navigation bar and your Profile.

  3. Visit the Schools – The most important tab! This is where all schools & non-school exhibitors are listed for your viewing! They are listed in Alpha order (A-Z).

  5. ACTIVITY AREA AT THE TOP OF EACH PAGE
  6. Envelope – this is a shortcut to your messages tab! This will be highlighted with a number if you have a message!
  7. Notification Bell- if you receive a new message or a response, a small exclamation point will appear
  8. Profile – Upon clicking the down carrot arrow, click “My Profile” to be taken to the Dashboard page.
  9. US or ES – if you would like to view our site in Spanish, you can toggle between the two languages. All content except for intra-booth text will be translated.

Matchmaking – Remember those interest categories you answered during registration? The system remembered them and now is recommending the top matched schools based on your preferences! Check them out here!
Messages – Another important tab! Once you message a booth via the written chat, you will continue the conversation via this tab! All of your ongoing conversations will be listed in order.  

CAN I VIEW THE SCHOOLS BASED ON THE CERTAIN TYPE THAT I AM LOOKING FOR?
All booths will be listed in Alpha order, from A-Z on the Schools page located along the main menu navigation bar. This will include participating schools and non-school exhibitors.

You can search by school/organization name OR can filter the full list by the using the existing filters; these categories include:
  • Exhibitor Categories
  • Media Partner
  • School Resources
  • Community Pre-K
  • Schools: PK3 – Grade 12
  • Ward Location
  • Grade Level
    • PreK – Grade 5
    • Grade 5-8
    • Grade 9-12

  • Clicking the link will open into a new window; into a Zoom, Teams or Google meet live video chat meeting

School Representatives
  • There are multiple booth representatives available for chat! Please do not click on the booth representative names. Please use the Message button located in the upper left information card to send a message to the school!
How do I join a school’s LIVE Q&A session?
  • To join a live Q&A session via video with a school, upon entering the booth, click the school’s name in the Overview section. This has been hyperlinked with a Zooms/Teams or Google meet meeting invitation. Upon clicking, it will open new window where you can join the conversation. If the Spanish translation is also present, they do have a representative available that is able to speak in Spanish! ​​​​​​​
How do I chat (written) with school representatives?
  • Once you enter a booth, you can chat directly with all booth representatives by clicking on the Message button located in the upper left information card. All messages sent will only be seen by the booth members. Other attendees cannot see what you have written, so sensitive, child specific questions can be asked. Please be sure to only message via this button; do not click the individual booth members at the bottom of the page.
​​​​​​​How can I talk directly, via phone, with a school representative during EdFEST?
  • ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Some schools have offered a direct phone line that you can call during the hours of EdFEST (10am – 1pm). This number is listed in the Overview Section of their booth. A representative will be available to chat with you!
​​​​​​​Will printed copies of the school directory be made available?
  • ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Directories will be available at your local library branch in early January! If you are not able to drop by, please call the My School DC hotline at 202.888.6336 and we ensure you are able to receive a copy.
